How to refresh your home for the summer

1. Swap out your heavier bedding for cooler materials like linen or cotton. These breathable natural fibres help regulate temperature beautifully. Choose linen for a relaxed, lived-in vibe or cotton if you prefer a cleaner, crisp look.

2. Nothing says summer like citrus. Try diffusing essential oils like lemon, orange, or grapefruit. Your home will smell amazing and these scents are known to be mood-boosting. Bonus tip: Add a bowl of lemons for decor and you're sure to never run out of garnish for backyard cocktails or mocktails. ;)

3. Fresh flowers everywhere! Whether from the market (hello peonies!), local florist, or your own garden, flowers bring colour and energy into any space. Check out some of my favourite flower shops here.

4. Extend your living space. If you have a patio or balcony, treat it like an extension of your home. Add comfy seating, string lights, or a small herb garden to make the space inviting for summer nights.

5. Switch to lighter rugs. If you’re in a warm climate or just want a breezier feel, consider rolling up heavy wool rugs and either leaving bare floors or using flatweave or natural fiber rugs.

6. Toss the winter toss cushions. Rotate any fall or winter sofa toss cushions with lighter toned pillows and throws. It will breathe new energy into your home and make your space feel new even if they are the same ones stored away from last summer.
